DFW Trip: Wednesday

We started out our usual lazy way by hanging out at the house and playing Lego Star Wars. I love that game, but not enough to by a new system to play it. After some gaming and lazing we headed out to a place called Cabela’s. This place was absolutely huge. I’ve been to a Bass Pro Shop but this blows that away. They have a mountain inside the building that features all sorts of taxidermy. They also have taxidermy wings, an aquarium area with some of the largest freshwater fish I’ve ever seen, and enough clothing to outfit you on any excursion that might require you to catch, trap, or kill something.

Nice racks!!

There was a food truck outside that was just making fresh fried pork rinds. I picked up a large back of the spicy rinds and it made for some humor in the car as my buddy’s five year old found them too hot after wanting to try one. She ended up bitching about it for awhile before finally asking for more. :D

I also had a Stromboli tonight at some Italian restaurant run by the Serbs or Bosnians or something non-Italian. Was skeptical, but for $5, the Stromboli was really good. The thing was bigger than a P’Zone (if you’ve seen one of those things).

And one last thing I almost forgot about. While looking at the various taxidermy displays earlier, I saw one of a Mountain Lion attacking an Cow Elk. It made me daydream a little about a possibly Twilight Zone episode where taxidermy animals came back to life at night after the store closed and intermingled until the store reopened in the morning and this being the result.

As a result of our trip to Cabela’s where we saw many lions, among other animals, I treated my buddy’s kids to one of my favorite songs. It’s also been stuck in my head since I first heard it years ago, and now it’s stuck in theirs. Yes, it’s Weebl’s Kenya song. Kenya believe it? Forget Norway.
