DFW Trip: Sunday

We started out at a Jewish Deli called Cyndi’s. I’m not typically a fan of omelets, but I had to try an omelet at this place. They have something called the Deli Omelet. It’s eggs prepared “pancake style” with deli meats sandwiched in between. The choices are Salami, Corned Beef, Bologna, and Pastrami. I chose Pastrami. It was delicious.

They offer bagels, as you could expect, as a bread choice, but when I said I wanted a bagel, she asked me which kind. So I asked for an Everything Cheese Bagel. Why not, it’s something I’ve only seen at a couple bagel shops out in LA, so I figured I’d ask. They didn’t have that, but they had an Everything Bagel, so I got that. I also ended up trying their mustard at some point, really amazing stuff. I love mustard, but deli mustard made in house is just great. Perhaps my next mustard will be a deli mustard.

After paying for our meal, I asked the deli man how much for just one pickle, because I loved deli pickles but one didn’t come with my meal. He asked full or half sour. So I asked him his suggestion. I chose full sour, and it was another great choice. Today was starting off nice.

From there Geri went to work, and Ryan dropped me off with my friend Brian. Brian was working in the area, so it happened to work out. We picked up some pork chops, chips, and beer on the way back to the house. We also found this odd sign (below), and conveniently it’s on the 22nd of the month.

We grilled those marinated pork chops over a mesquite wood chunk fire (no charcoal here). What resulted was the best pork chops I’ve had. Before and after dinner we sat on the porch and drank beer, which was sort of the goal with coming to Texas. I didn’t really want to be rushed to do much of anything. Another goal completed.

A little while later I spent some quality time letting the Shih-Poo puppy sleep on me. His name is Teddy, after Theodore Roosevelt. He likes to poop, pee, and sleep. And a little while after this photo, I slept too.
