Just make it home
That’s my mantra for the ride home tonight.
I had someone in an jacked up truck pull up on me so close that his bumper was actually over top of my rear fender. Had I had a passenger, they could have used his bumper has a back rest. Luckily for me his bumper was so high, otherwise the bike would have been destroyed, and who knows where I’d be.
I had someone turn into me on the way out of Griffith Park. I ride through there on Fridays on the way home, and luckily I saw this person coming over.
I was heading through a neighborhood and had someone run a stop sign to cross my path. I’d been fine had they kept going after they ran the stop sign, but they decided to freak out and stop in front of me, causing me to almost tee them. Thanks. Another day of evasive low speed maneuvers because someone doesn’t understand why there are stop signs.
I’m heading South on Hillhurst, crossing the intersection at Hollywood/Sunset, when someone decided to enter the intersection from my right as I was most of the way across the intersection. He hesitated at first, then continued into my path. Luckily I had enough room to my left to get over in front of that car to get around this guy.
I then decided at 7-Eleven to play the lottery. After the way today was going why not? As I’m backing out of my space some guy decides he can’t wait on me and nearly clips me trying to get into my spot.
I finally make it home, expecting to die in the final two blocks from the 7-Eleven to my apartment. Once home my neighbor tells me that my idea that the freeway is more dangerous has just been proven wrong today, and that I should just take the freeway home from the office. Not sure if I want to test that just yet, but it’s starting to look like a better idea.
