Little Birdie

This little birdie really tried hard to convince us that she needed some of our bread from Louise’s Trattoria. Once our bread arrived at the table she moved closer, even standing as upright as possible on the arm of my coworker’s chair just to look at the bread as it sat on the table. She’d then make some strange gestures and then give each of us a look. Well apparently the routine worked because my coworker finally gave in and threw a small piece of the bread on the ground.

Well it worked for a few minutes, but she soon returned and received another piece of bread. Finally it seemed as though she was full as she left us alone. It turns out she had moved over to a neighboring couple to begin the same routine with them, where she again made some friends and received more bread.

Now I must admit, the bread at Louise’s is amazing. And I could imagine going from table to table myself begging for pieces of it. But I think it’s the first time I’ve seen a bird so unafraid of people. It also made sure to not stand on the tables, only the arms of the chairs.
